Upgrading the education system with cloud technology

In line with Vice President and Secretary of Education Sara Duterte’s goal to improve the education system by leveraging technology, a school in Bantayan Island, Cebu is one step closer to achieving this goal.

In partnership with e-DRIS Inc., Subway® Philippines delivered the School in a Box digital system to Patao National Secondary School on Bantayan Island, Cebu. Patao is one of the most remote barangays in Bantayan, Cebu. Identified as one of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) last mile schools, the school can be reached after a four hour land journey, an hour ferry journey and another hour journey from the main port of Bantayan .

The School in a Box system is a micro-cloud system that can enable the creation, curation, curation and distribution of tens of thousands of up-to-date relevant content to thousands of users at once. For teachers and students, it is also integrated with the Foundation learning management system to make the online learning process productive and quantifiable. Moreover, these e-learning contents and modules are made accessible to students and teachers online or with intermittent connection or without any internet connection. This innovative platform is definitely a game-changer for last mile schools and those located in troubled areas.

EDRIS points out that the program will provide access to educational modules, interactive lessons, mock videos and reference materials comprising a wide range of knowledge for students in grades 1 to 12 through online and offline connectivity. line.

At the graduation ceremony, Patao National High School Principal Victor S. Ungod said the system’s arrival was very timely and would help bridge the gaps for students who are lagging behind in their classes.

“The School in the Box program can improve student learning and in fact we or the students have benefited from it because we are exploring the content of this device. We are very grateful for this as we are the very first beneficiary of this program,” said Ungod.

For his part, Subway® Philippines Chief Marketing Officer, Joshua Wahiman, reaffirmed Subway’s promise to be the best choice for everyone, not only by serving fresh and healthy food, but also by amplifying the importance of education and how a healthier approach to learning can maximize the potential of students regardless of their location.

“We are thrilled to be able to empower the community and this last mile school with this School in a Box device. As we want to highlight your meals from Subway all the better, we also want to highlight or bring out a healthier approach and, at the level of their studies, would be better in their field before going out in the real world”, did he declare. said.
