Micah Richards criticizes Ralf Rangnick’s new system at Manchester United

Micah Richards has criticized Ralf Rangnick’s new system at Manchester United.

Since arriving as interim boss at Old Trafford, Rangnick has yet to suffer a loss playing his coveted 4-2-2-2 formation.

But despite being undefeated during his short tenure, United failed to set the world on fire under the German.

The victories over Crystal Palace and Norwich City did little to woo pundits and supporters of his philosophy.

Manchester United managed to save a point late against Newcastle on Monday night as Edinson Cavani called off a strike from Allan Saint-Maximin for the hosts.

After the game, the former Manchester City defender criticized Rangnick’s system in the BBC’s game of the day.

Richards commented: “They (Manchester United) have been very negligent.

“I think the new system, 4-2-2-2, isn’t quite working yet.

“Full-backs Dalot et Telles have to be in this position where they’re going to put some quality in the box and they’re not really doing that.”

United are currently seventh in the Premier League table, seven points behind Arsenal, fourth, having played two games less.

Rangnick’s men return to Old Trafford tomorrow night to face a struggling Burnley.
