MACON CO. PRISON’S INMATE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM BEING REPLACED – Decatur Tribune
Macon Co. Jail is currently going through the process of replacing the current inmate communications system, which includes phone calls and video visits, with HomeWAV Communications. Installation of the new system will go live in select areas of the prison during the week of May 16, 2022. For most accommodation, the switchover is expected to be completed within a day. (Except for unforeseen issues.) During this transition, we will notify inmates in affected areas 24 hours prior to the changeover and post notices on our Facebook page. We encourage those who have friends or family at our property to create their HomeWAV account ONLY when notified that their accommodation will change.
The new system should be a more reliable system that provides more opportunities for detainees in our custody to communicate with their loved ones. Once fully installed, this new system will also provide additional educational and entertainment opportunities for those incarcerated at Macon Co. Jail. These opportunities include GED preparation, behavioral health assistance, law, books electronics and magazines, games and job education, to name a few.
